Matthew 25:40-45
A man, in his early 30s, parked his car outside the office.
He came in and we spent several minutes trying to establish the basics due to the language barrier. We finally got his name and found a translation app, and we got to hear his story.
Several years ago, Helping Hands helped him with three nights at a local hotel. He said that honestly he was drinking way too much back then and he was in a pretty big mess. He was here this day to give Helping Hands a donation in hopes that we would have the resources to help the next person who is in a bad way like he was back then.
We are part of something truly beautiful. Being the hands and feet of the love of God to those in need. The Good Father is in the business of transformation, and we’re seeing it firsthand more and more often.
There are some people that we help that never seem to get well. How they were raised, sin done to them, sin that they themselves have done, choices good and bad, and simple things like weather and bad timing; all these things seem conspire together to create a hopelessness that you and I would have trouble truly comprehending.
There is one such lady that we have helped over the years. But let me tell you a story… two months ago she came into the office. The one staff member in the office that actually knew her only recognized her by her voice. Everything else had been transformed. She came in holding a framed certificate. It was evidence of her getting clean and having been clean for a period of time. She was incredibly proud, and we were in full-on celebration with her. This week we learned that she has a home and a job. She just keeps gaining ground that was stolen from her! Praise God!
