How to use S.O.A.P. [shared by Pastor Bob]
Here's a Bible Study method I've been enjoying this past year.  I hope you join me:
   Scripture
   Observation
   Application
   Prayer
First, you read Scripture until something captures your attention, intrigues you, or "jumps off the page".  Write down the phrase or verse under the "S", scripture section.     Then, observe that phrase.  Use the observation questions to study that phrase or verse.  Write down what you learn.
    1.  What's happening?
    2.  Who's speaking or acting?
    3.  What do I learn about God?
    4.  What do I learn about relating to God?
    5.  What do I learn about people?
    6.  Is there an example to follow?
    7.  A behavior to avoid?
    8.  Any promises made by God?
Then, "A" for application.  Jot down how you will apply your learning in your life.     Then finish up by writing a one or two sentence prayer asking God to help you put this truth into practice.
